Sat. Sept. 28 On the Road Again!

We left Harwich at 9:10am on a beautiful fall morning, 57 degrees but 63 by 9:55 and 74 by noon under clear blue sky. There was just an ever-so-slight hint of color in MA!  Still slight when we arrived in Maine.

Stopped in Ogunquit for lunch on the beach. Truly beautiful with some people ion full sun-worshipping regalia catching rays on a perfect beach day. Temp 75 and no wind!

Continued north on Route 95 toward our destination:  Bar Harbor. We left 95 at Bangor and proceeded east toward Acadia National Park and Mt. Desert (de SERT as the down Mainers say --down wind to Boston!). We arrived at the Acadia Inn about 5:30, checked in, had a quick drink and walked/drove to downtown Bar Harbor to Stewman's for dinner. Guess who walked and who drove!!!

Gail Brewer, an old friend who grew up in Bar Harbor, recommended Stillman's, a casual place right on the water, known for its lobster. The weather was still pretty mild, mid-60s and we ate outside under a covered patio. Food was yummy; some of us had lobster infused food and some didn't!

Our plan for tomorrow is to drive up Mt. Cadillac to see the stars at 5:45 am and stay for sunrise. Should be spectacular!!  So, we all retired on the early side with hopes of rising at 5:15!!  Anyway, Bill hadn't felt well and we wanted him to get a good night's sleep and continue to successfully rally!!s

Friday Sept 27 Almost Ready

Francine and Bill arrived yesterday in plenty of time for a pizza dinner with Mim and Tony and Masa and Drew after which we retired fully satiated. This morning Francine and I walked Bell's neck with Helen Doane while Peter and Bill snoozed. We all spent the next few hours at home visiting with 1 week old PJ and his family. What a joy!  The next few hours we did errands and laundry, packed and finished chores needed to be completed before the big trip. Dinner at the Red Nun was the perfect way to end our prep day!

And, now, we're READY!!!  Canadian Maritimes, here we come!!
